ABOUT THE DIOCESE

The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States was established by the late His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, who was the 116 Successor of St. Mark the Evangelist. In response to the Coptic church's rapidly expanding diaspora, His Holiness established the first Coptic Orthodox Diocese in the United States in 1993, which is the the Diocese of the Southern United States in 1993. H.H. Pope Shenouda III appointed His Grace Bishop Youssef to oversee this Diocese.

There are currently 63 priests serving the 44 churches and 35 Coptic communities located in the Diocese.

The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States is composed of the following states:
